Hats Off Gentlemen It's Adequate

Hats Off Gentlemen It’s Adequate have been developing a cult reputation through their award winning albums, endorsements from rock legends (including former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett) and passionate live performances, however they came to wider attention when they stepped in at the last minute to replace an injured band on the main stage at Hard Rock Hell’s Prog Festival in Wales on November 2017, one of the world’s leading indoor progressive rock events. They performed to over 1000 people, opening for Magnum, Focus and Carl Palmer. They were described by Hard Rock Hell magazine as ‘unlikely stars who stole the show’, by eFestivals as the ‘highlight of the festival’, and now have a busy festival schedule for 2019.

Hats Off Gentlemen It's Adequate are Malcolm Galloway (vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and producer) and Mark Gatland (bass, backing vocals, keyboards and co-producer), on their own, or with Kathryn Thomas (flute), and other guest performers including Rudy Burrell (drums) and Ibon Bilboa (guitar).

Malcolm and Mark have been playing together since they were at school. Malcolm and Kathryn are married (to each other).

Their music combines progressive rock, classic rock, acoustic, blues, metal, folk, funk, minimalism, and electronica, and often explores scientific and philosophical themes.

They regularly play at leading London venues and regularly put on charity gigs (including for Save The Children, Cancer Research UK, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Ehlers-Danlos Support UK, and Brain Tumour UK).

They have been broadcast on over 100 radio stations/shows/podcasts/TV channels.
