Hats Off Gentlemen It's Adequate

London-based Hats Off Gentlemen It’s Adequate have been developing a cult reputation through their award winning albums, endorsements from rock legends (including former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett) and passionate live performances.  They came to national attention when they stepped in at the last minute to replace an injured band on the main stage at Hard Rock Hell’s Prog Festival in Wales on November 2017, one of the world’s leading indoor progressive rock events. They performed to over 1000 people, opening for Magnum, Focus and Carl Palmer. They were described by Hard Rock Hell magazine as ‘unlikely stars who stole the show’, by eFestivals as the ‘highlight of the festival’. Their 2020 album ‘Nostalgia For Infinity’ featured on many critics’ selections of top progressive rock albums of the year.

Hats Off Gentlemen It's Adequate are Malcolm Galloway (vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and producer) and Mark Gatland (bass, backing vocals, keyboards and co-producer), on their own, or with Kathryn Thomas (flute). Malcolm and Mark have been playing together since they were at school. Malcolm and Kathryn are married (to each other).

Their music combines progressive/alt rock, experimental and classical elements, minimalist, metal, folk, funk, and electronic music, and often explores scientific and philosophical themes.

They regularly play at leading venues and festivals, and have regularly organised and supported charity events (including Prog The Forest, and events for Save The Children, Cancer Research UK, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Ehlers-Danlos Support UK, and Brain Tumour UK). They have been broadcast on/featured in over 250 radio stations/shows/podcasts/TV channels/publications.
