Hello,
I hope you are as well as possible given the odd and difficult times in which we currently live.
We are co-hosting Prog The Forest at the Fiddler's Elbow in Camden, London (UK) on Sunday 5 December 2021. It is a one day charity fundraising progressive rock festival in aid of The World Land Trust, a charity that buys threatened rainforest and other vulnerable habitats to be preserved in trust, working with local people to ensure a long term future for these vital parts of the ecosystem on which we all depend. Our fundraising for the charity has in total so far raised enough for them to protect 11 acres.
The event will showcase the diversity of modern progressive rock and related genres.
Bands in order of appearance; timings are approximate and may be subject to change
1.45 CAROLA BAER - The Ruby Dawn and ex Quiet Wish singer/keyboardist will open the festival with a solo appearance, performing her hypnotic ambient rock with a social conscience
2.30 WARMRAIN - Voted no2 in Prog magazine readers’ poll of top unsigned prog bands
3.30 JO QUAIL - internationally acclaimed composer and virtuoso cellist. She combines an eloquent mastery of her instrument with innovative looping techniques, producing complex, evocative music, equally appreciated by classical and progressive audiences alike. Jo won the Limelight Award at the Prog Magazine Awards in 2019
4.40 CODICES - not quite math rock, not quite post rock, with big chaotic riffs and careful deliberations in equal measure. Their new album ‘Vivid’ was released on the 15th October, which they plan to play in full on the day
EVENING SET:
7.00 JOHN ETHERIDGE - the legendary Soft Machine guitarist joins forces with the sensational vocals of Vimala Rowe; together they weave a magical spell, effortlessly travelling musically from India to Africa, Middle East and the USA.
7.55 HATS OFF GENTLEMEN IT'S ADEQUATE - Prog magazine Limelight feature artists, fusing alt/prog-rock and electronic elements with science and science fiction, recommended by Steve Hackett.
9.15 THE FAR MEADOW - "outstanding music, topped with superb female vocals, sounds as adventurous Neo Symphonic Rock, highly recommended!" Prog Archives
LIVE MUSIC WILL FINISH BY 10.30pm
Accompanied children are welcome until 6pm. Due to licensing requirements the venue is 18+ after 6pm
If you require a reserved seat please let us know. The event aims to be responsive to needs of attendees with disability issues.

In other news we'll be releasing a new album next year - The Confidence Trick. The theme of the album is the harm caused by our tendency to mistake confidence for competence. Recording of this album is almost finished - one vocal and one flute part left to record, some mixing, and then mastering and pressing. We're also delighted to be returning to Hard Rock Hell's Prog festival, and making our first in person appearance at the Breaking Bands festival in 2022.
Also - If you'd like to see a one take solo version of Solace (live vocals and lead guitar), here is one I did recently - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfWYWUAmhCU
Hope you are all well,
Best wishes
Malcolm
